sewing on a collar

How do I go about sewing on a collar of a uniform shirt?
it would just be on the collar tips.

Never done it before and was looking for hints and tricks.

Pointed collar- twill, not knit? I would use heavy tear-away, and (in this one instance, because I CAN'T STAND to use the stuff) use a little spray adhesive to keep the tip where you want it in the hoop. Make sure the backing is very tight.
