Hello all. Extremely new to Amaya XT. I have a cute cheer leader that I am trying to stitch out. Parts of the design are not dense enough and fabric shows through. Is there a way to increase the stitching on parts of a design? thanks!

There will probably be a whole lot of posts to help you out, but you need to go into DesignShop and edit the design. If you have no experience in designshop you are in for some 'learning'....you have to click on the design part that needs help, right click to 'properties', then go in and add underlayment, probably set it to 20 point for more density, etc.-a lot to try and tell you in 30 seconds. But yes, it can be done and if you know how it is very simple. If it is a 'treasurechest' image or Balboa or purchased digitizing, chances are the underlayment is actually a separate image, in Designshop you have the ability to control underlayment with each design piece instead of separately.
I don't have my machine up and running or I'd say send me the file and I'd do it, chances are good someone else may offer to do that for you that is up and running.

Since you are new to the Amaya, maybe you are new to embroidery as well, so I'll throw this out there. There are designs that exist where the design is SUPPOSED to be light fill--make sure you don't have one of these to start with

Signman thanks for your reply. I am very new to this and have been watching webinars all night and all morning! When I right click and go into properties I get Tie in/Tie Off, Scale, Colors, etc. Under Scale I see Walk'underlay stitch length. This is grayed out and will not let me change it. Am I in the right area? thanks
This is an applique design and the area that stitches around the applique fabric is too light for my taste. The edge of the fabric shows underneath and does not look like applique that I have seen.

Ok, I have watched the webinar about object properties. I see where underlay is available for lettering elements. I also see where underlay is available for other files like the earthday file, but underlay is not an option for my cheerleader design. What am I missing? Now I see where to duplicate part of an element and I am guessing that will give me the thickness that I am wanting, but there must be a way to add an underlay to parts of a design? Thanks

Welcome to the wonderful world of embroidery!
Did you digitize the cheerleader yourself? Is it in native ofm format? Or are all the parts showing "expanded"? Even if they are expanded, all is not lost. This is a little advance for a beginner, but, hey, you need it now, not later. So --- What I would do, if the object on the right show that they are expanded, is
1. make a copy of the part in question. So no you have two.
2. Using the first one in the list, this will be your underlay. Convert it to wireframe.
3 Using the Properties, set the density to something loose, like 1. Then set the stitch direction perpendicular to the top stitching which is your next object in the list.
This is kind of trial and error. Maybe you can get away with a looser underlay than 1 - so maybe 1.2 or perhaps a heavier density like .7 or .8. It is so subjective, you just have to see what works for you. What you are doing here is treating a fill as an underlay - so, in this case you don't want an underlay to this object.
If you are having problems understanding what I am saying, or if this doesn't fit your situation, write again. This is a solvable problem.

If you'd like to, send me the design

and I'll look at it to see what can be done.

Juli first and foremost thank you for your reply! I have been working on this all day, and I have learned a lot about the "wonderful world of embroidery $#^&@*"
I did not digitize this. I am total newbie. I bought it. The parts are showing expanded. What does expanded mean? So I am going to try your steps. They make sense. But then again I might be delirious by now!

Juli, I would love to send you the design!!! That design is on another computer that does not have internet access, but believe me as soon as I figure out how to move it over to this computer, I am sending it your way! And I do not care if I ever get it back! lol Thanks for the help, really

You mean a USB Memory stick??
I did not even know they sold zip-drives anymore,

And, if you right-click on the expanded icon in the tree, you will see the option to convert to wireframe; you can do this, but sometimes it seriously corrupts the file. See if whomever is doing the digitizing for you can send you a .cnd file (if they can't send you a .ofm file). Keep posting & we'll get this resolved!Gregory
