  • Redigitizing in the middle of sewing out

I am doing a monster design - over 100,000 stitches in two hoopings. I have already started to sew this out and am finding that the outline satin stitch on the letters is just not wide enough. Can I, at this point, just stop, set the design to finished, go back in and set all the outlines to wider (from 2mm to 3.5 or 4mm), send the design to OS and sew starting on the second color which is the first outline? I used the laser to line it up. When I resend the design, will the lineup stay the same as it is right now OR will I have to reline it up with the laser. I really want to avoid that!!!

Let my jut day that this is the "Welcome mat" for
a 2 million dollar boat! My husband, who is a commercial fisherman, was very impressed! I cannot screw this up!!!

I have done exactly what your saying.

    a few if though..

when you brought it to the OS did you MOVE IT AT ALL??

If you did then it may be tricky.

If not I have just opened the file in DS and made the corrections and then went and loaded it again. advanced to where I ended and it went perfectly.

I did not move anything except added what was needed.

    good luck..

Yes, Jerome, I did turn it. And no, it did not turn the reloaded design. But I managed to re-laser it and get it turned perfectly. Everything worked out pretty good.

        Juli,

I am into this a little late, but anytime you stop in the middle of a design and want to edit you need to document your stitch count sewn and then click on the "Return to Origin" icon in the OS toolbar and also the "reset design" icon right next to it.

This will allow you to send the design over to DS from OS, do your editing and machine load it back to OS from DS.

You then go into Settings, Move and enter your documented stitch count and command it to "move to stitch". You must take into account some of the editing will have added or deleted stitches to the design, but jogging forward or backward will get you back to where you were. If you have turned the design in OS you should be able to turn it again without anyfurther line up....that is, if you were using the big bold F for rotating the design in OS.

Wow, are you saying that I can actually load a design from OS to DS.
Exactly, how do I do that?

          Juli,

In OS, with a design loaded to the machine, there will be a bold "DS" icon showing in the upper toolbar. Left click on this and it will "send" the OS design file to DS for editing. If you switch back to OS before resending the design back to OS you will notice the design will not be visible. This is normal. Doing a File, Machine Load from DS will then send the new information back to OS where it will become visible again.

Be sure to Save the editing changes in DS prior to reloading to OS....

As a side note....I still run both Ver 7 and Ver 9 software on the same computer. If DS is not open when selecting the DS icon in Ver 7 OS, the design will open the higher version of DS, i.e., Ver 9. This gives conflicting information to OS if the design is now reloaded and can create issues.

If folks are running both Versions of software and are running OS 7, open DS 7 and have it running prior to using the OS, DS icon. The design will then be sent to DS 7 for editing.

            That is handy to know.

And changing the subject slightly ---
When I double click on an ofm file, with DS not open, it will start V7 and not V9. How do I get my computer to load V9 instead?

              Hi Juli,

Use Windows Explorer to get to the design you want to open. Right-click on it and then click on "Open with..." You should be able to find your V9 program.

Be sure to check the little check box that says to always use this program to open this file type.

That way you will not have to do this again.
