Is there anyone that has Arc poly thread that they would like to sell, or know of another thread that matches Arc thread or closely matches it. Thanks

Get a thread chart from Madeira and find the conversion chart for ARC to Madeira colors. We started switching over several years ago and except for some very minor differences, I'd say 90% of our threads were matched in Madeira colors with no problem. If you have a choice between a slightly 'darker' color or slightly 'lighter' color to make a match, go with the lighter color and your customer may never know. Brighter shade makes it look clean and vibrant-darker shade makes it look older even right off the machine. Optical illusion.

I have been using a thread called Poly x40 that has the exact same numbers as the ARC thread and have been a great match. The only problem is they don't fit on my spools the way ARC does. The large spools have small holes. I just sit them on there as best I can and it works.
You can get this at The Embroidery Store. Otherwise, I use Isacord and do close matching.Blessings~cindy

Easy fix on the holes...I posted this before for small 'sample' spools...
chuck a 3/8" drill bit in a hand held cordless drill, and slowly 'ream out' the holes to make them larger. Wrap a paper towel or cloth around the spool with rubber bands-keeps the particles out of the thread. If the hole is small all the way down the spool, go as far as you can from one end, flip it over, and go from the other end to finish it up.
Just have a good firm grip on the spool while doing it, or have husband/boyfriend/bodybuilder muckle onto it while you drill it out. Works like a charm!

Just for reference. I use Isacord thread and really love it and now I am adding Floriani threads to my stash. Isacord runs wonderfully and Floriani has poly with sheen every bit as high as anyone's rayon. About 10-12 years ago, all of the thread and bobbin manufacturers used to hand out samples to all of the show attendees. (None of them do it now.) I have tested most brands and found that Isacord thread with Coates bobbins seem to run best. I have been using those for about 10 years now and never thought about going to someone else. They seem to have the fewest thread/bobbin breaks and have the best tension stability.

I agree with Steve. About two years ago I switched from ARC thread to Isacord thread and it has made a world of difference. As far as bobbins I now run Coates brand exclusively. In the past I tried other "off brands" because it was on sale and they do not run as well as Coates... Just one persons opinion.Everett & Michelle
