Trick for small lettering.

So here is my tip of the month. instead of trying to embroider .2" or under letting with a density of 5 or higher, try this. Run it with a density of 8 ....however, for underlay, use single zig-zag at 100% width, also at a density of 8. Between the 8 underlay and the 8 top stitch, it comes out to very close to a density of 4. This seems to be working great for me lately and haven't had any thread breaks yet. Try and let me know. It's so nice to run across a post like this; it's like someone is thinking about what my brain would be thinking about if it had room among the other thousands of demanding thoughts. Anyway, I've been doing lots of custom small text lately, and I knew it could be be better, but I seem to have gotten it "good enough for the boss", then I just got stuck on other things. ummmmm.... park at the Sheraton by the Prudential when going to Fenway Park. Its only $15 to park there and only a short 15 minute walk to the park. 60 weight thread is thinner than regular 40 weight thread. You would want to reduce the density setting if you were using 60 weight thread because you wouldn't get the coverage you'd expect.
On regular designs, if your density was set to 4, you might want to try a density of 3 and see what you get.
Remember that we use a density of around 4 pts on most things because 40 weight thread is just under 4 pts. thick. Of course it also plays into an adequate spacing of needle penetrations for the range of needle diameters we use in our industry.

I am trying to sew a name the will go on a scrub top in elegans dak and the lettering is pretty small and long. I can't seem to get the stitching to come out very smooth. What settings (amaya os and version 7 in design shop)would you use to get a fairly long name in this font to sew out on a scrub top.. Thanks for any and all sugestions!!!
