  • density for metallic thread

I have a fsl design that has metallic thread being used as small flower outlines. I can sew it ok on my voyager but my amaya doesn't care at all for it. I have tried different backing, giving up on the vilene for the amaya and going to a 2 piece backing of mesh, changed the needle and I still get maybe 3 stitches and then the thread breaks. It is slowed down to 800, pressure foot all the way down, 80/12 needle, so my conclusion is that maybe I need to change the density for the amaya. Its already set to 11.7. Any suggestions as to what to change it to? Thanks,Cheryl K.

Last dec I did 126 FSL angels for a wedding.
I used vilene single layer and only had one messed up angel it got wet while stitching and yep that was a problem. but the other 7 in the hoope were perfect.

I did have to adjust the pressor foot though it was not all the way down, But it was close and I had to play with the lower thread limit and the material thickness settings but it worked perfectly. Not even 1 thread break, I was amazed..
    I used Auto actifeed.

Also- remember to tell the trimmer mechanism that it is cutting metalllic thread- you may have to set just that one needle to trim that way- look under settings by color under the settings tab. If it is a walk stitch, I would keep the stitches at or above 25 points and use curve compensation. I never put the presser foot all the way down (I might if I ever get silk or such)- try one or two clicks up.
