And the amazing thing about it is that he was alone when he caught it. Had to get it in his boat all by himself. Good thing he has been lifting weights lately. He is pushing 69 yrs old. And this was after he had already caught another smaller fish that was only 105 lbs. He calls himself the "old man of the sea." And this is by no means the biggest Ahi he has caught. He has landed ones that were upwards of 260 lbs, but not for years.

And he landed it solo? WOW!
I guess my 6 pound smallmouth bass I like to catch, aren't quite that much fun.
And I'd be willing to bet, he didn't just reach over the gunnels and grab it by the lip with one hand either?
I'd wager he wasn't using 4 lb, test line like I do, LOL.

My Boys would love this...they love to fish and one loves to fish and hunt...our oldest goes to Canada and Texas and out west to hunt...and the younger one likes to go up to the lake and fish...Oh, the oldest one is 35 and my baby is 33 and both have two boys each...thanks for sharing this was nice...

Man you guy's are so fortunate to be close to deep water! We have about a 70 mile run to the shelf and then it is only about 700 feet. I have caught a few nice Snapper in the upper teen range but nothing like that monster , Congradulations on the haul. Sometimes in the heat of the day we will drift pass some shrimp boats that have anchored and get out our trout rods and jig for some schooly Dolhpin (Mahi Mahi)
