• Wow, what a buzz

A constant buzzing noise when the machine is idle and power is on. It took me a few days to figure out where the noise was coming from, as soon as the bobbin case is removed, the buzzing stops.
Strange.
Anyone else with a buzzing bobbin?

Ours buzzzes somewhere around the hoop arms-it's just metal vibrating from the motors...almost like a magnetic piece is loose somewhere. But all we have to do is touch a hoop arm and it stops-nothing is loose. Just the amaya snoring....

Oops, before some of you start jumping on me...Ed, Rod...LOL...if you hear a METALLIC buzzing, like 2 pieces of metal hitting instead of just a magnetic buzz...THAT'S not good...investigate further!
Didn't want anyone to think that any continuous noise is okay....
better now?

Roland,

Now that was a good description---just the Amaya "snoring"!!

And right again...nothing major is loose....and it is the bigger motors that have "encoders" on them trying to hold things like the panagraph, X carriage, Z axis, etc in place. This sets up a harmonic vibration that will travel to the "weakess" point, so to speak, which will be the loose bobbin case or the hoop arms or plastic parts that have some play in them...etc and they start to buzzzzzz.....zzzzzzzz......

You can bump it ...kind of like thumping your spouse, when they are snoring too loud in bed.... }

Snoring....I like that....

Look at it this way,
Melco doesn't charge extra for the buzzing sound. And it is uniquely only on Melco machines. Even the machines made before the Amaya.
So consider yourself lucky.
Enjoy the buzzing. Embrace the buzzing! Hummm along with the buzzing!! Use the force, Luke!!!
(Oh wait, that's for something else.)

And if you just can't stand the buzzing anymore,...
Just put your machine into sleep mode. Then wake it up when you are ready to sew.

Thought for the day: "What if they would have called it Bumble Bee instead of Amaya?"
I guess today's machine would be called the "Bumble Bee XT". Kinda' rolls off the tongue.

It always seems to me to be coming form the bobbin case. Sometimes just touching that stops the buzz. Other time I hit the emergency stop and reset. that always seems to work.

Not Moaning Moaning Myrtle?

Best way to get rid of the buzz? Start sewing again BACK TO WORK! LOL.

Actually, pressing in on the bobbin case works most times - if it's coming from the arms, press up or down a little.

I have an EMT and it doesn't buzz or snore. Or maybe I can't hear it over the 200 decibels it makes.

OK John, you are the offical slave driver. I started at 5:30 this morning and I've finished two orders, can I have a lunch break, pretty please?
I got a good bit of digitizing to do this afternoon, I'll let the Buzzing Beast rest for a while.

There are several places on the machine that can be touched or tapped (I pop ours with the open palm of my hand)to get the buzzing to stop. It doesn't bother Rod but drives me crazy. I pop ours on the black dust covers on the ends of the panograph. You can also gently lift the black take-up lever of the needle you are on and it will stop. It is just a harmonic vibration but is still annoying.

Mine has 3 distinct buzzes - depending on where it's coming from; arms, take up lever, bobbin. All I have to do is touch the corresponding culprit - but most of the time no buzz!

LOL - Big Dog - I hear you.

I don't know what happened but business is booming here too. More orders and inquiries in the last 2-3 weeks than I've seen for a while. Stacey has been busting her tail waking up early and I was up till 2am last nite. Our machines have been humming day and nite. I want to complain but it's hard to turn away business.

BTW, you know it's time to take a break when you sew thru both sides of a polo sleeve as I did yesterday.
