  • Hoop Limit Detected

I recently purchased the Durkee 24 x 24 hoop. Juli in Kona was kind enough to send me the info to set up the hoop, and I've double and triple checked all of the numbers, they match.
Yet when I load a design and choose the hoop, the trace feature in DS and OS both show the design will fit the hoop. At the machine keypad, it won't trace, it doesn't even begin to move before I get the Hoop Limit Detected error message.
I thought maybe the first design was a little close to the limits and tried again with another design roughtly 3 by 4 inches with the same results. If I turn off the hoop limits it will trace, but I don't feel comfortable turning off the limits.
Note I'm using DS and OS version 700.018.
    Help???

What happens if you turn off the hoop limits. Will it trace then?

If I turn off Enable Hoop Limits the machine will trace, but not when it's enabled.
I hesitate to use it with the limits disabled.

I've embroidered with hoop limits turned off. Your design may just be a few stitches into the hoop limit. I'd trace again and watch the laser very carefully, mostly the back and sides where the presser foot could get too close to the hoop, which would definitely not be a good thing.

I'm both stubborn and cautious, and being new to the Amaya afraid to take a chance that might cause some damages.
I'm also curious why it won't trace from the keypad? It beeps three times and the hoop never moves at all, then the error message pops up. There has to be a reason, and it's got me curious.
          Help!

            Big Dog,

            Process of elimination......

Will the machine trace, with the hoop limits enabled, by left clicking on the "trace icon" on the OS screen?

Have you checked to see if "ALL" of the keys on the keypad are functional? Your Parts and Tech CD will instruct you on how to accomplish the check.

              Rod,
Yes all the the keypad buttons function as they should. The machine will trace with all other hoops except the new Durkee 24 x 24.
I've tried tracing with the 24 x 24 with several designs, including much smaller designs that I know will fit with plenty of room to spare.
I just tried tracing from the keypad again and no luck, then tried tracing from the Trace icon in OS and it worked. I tried again at the keypad and now it will trace. I tested it again with the larger design I had originally wanted to stitch and it traces with or without limits enabled, from either the keypad or the OS trace icon. I haven't changed any settings or hoop info since last night, and now it seems to be working fine.
              I'm even more confused now!!!
Any suggestions of what might have been the problem, in case it happens again?
This is a new design I've digitized, and I'm hoping to sell it to several members of a local boating club.

                Big Dog,

I am not sure exactly "why" tracing using the OS screen icon "kick started" the keypad into reconizing the new hoop settings but the main thing is that it is now working as it should.

Right now the only thing I can come up with is that the routing path for the tracing command from the interface assembly(keypad) thru the OS motherboard is different than than the direct link from the OS icon to the motherboard. By using the OS icon, it may have triggered something on the motherboard to recognize the new hoop settings..... to know the real reason "why" at this time is as Obama said in an interview when asked a question on some issue...."this is above my pay grade"......

                  Thanks Rod!
I'm not sure if it was the trace icon that kick-started the trace or if it was just booting the system this morning, that fixed it. If nothing else I now know two things to try if it happens again.
I've been talking with the directors this morning, and it looks like the orders will be coming in soon.
