• BEST IDEA EVER!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

So....visors. Everyone hates them, they run crooked, they break needles, etc...
I just hooped one (yes, on purpose) upside down. I used the WACF and strapped the visor right on the top seam of the visor, then ran the design right-side up onto the visor. It didnt budge, sewed 1/4" from the bill and got straight lettering 1" tall no problem. Anyone else try this or want to and let me know if it works well for them? thanks.

Correction: Lettering was 7/8" tall but for visors, I ain't complaining!

Interesting Scott. Thanks - I will have to try that.I usually don't have many problems with visors - I use duct tape to tape them down to the backing and don't get much movement at all. I am excited to try it your way and see how that turns out.

Something to watch out for. The thread grabber bar needs to have masking tape applied to it, otherwise the "teeth" will lave marks on the bill. Also, since I have been using this method for all of 45 minutes and still working out kinks; If the cylindrical cap framer thingy was half as deep, it would help a lot. Thinking about buying another one and having it cut to the right depth. I have just done 15 visors on 2 machines in 45 minutes, no thread breaks, no needle breaks. I am a very happy camper in the midst of Softball season!!!
Keep me updated folks!

a-ha! If the customer doesn't mind, I have noticed that if you leave the band of the visor in its original folded up position and sew through the panel and the band, it lays a lot flatter and seems to give you MORE room to stitch!

and then if it's a good hot sweaty day and they wear the visor tight...they get a nice reverse imprint of the sewing on their forehead...LOL

Seems like that would be aweful rough on the noggin and uncomfortable to me...

OHHHHHH Scott,
You should have patented this idea first!!!!

Way to go for thinking outside the box.

What's next, sewing visors while they are still on the customer's head?????
That would be brilliant!!

BTW, we never have problems with visors and use the CCP - I just hoop similar to a regular hat...

OK, so...... keep the band open as you do a cap. Wisenheimers!

PS: I tried the direct to forehead embroidery once, the guy wasn't too happy about it and went on a spree. Sorry Mr. Manson. )

Hehehehe...Ed you're so funny...Scott thanks for the tip...we don't really have problems with Visors and Caps...some visors are harder but we have sewn through them on the sides of the visors when it's just can't be hooped any other way...
a young lady wanted a design on the front and her name on one side and her horse's name on the other side and there wasn't enough room to unfold it and hoop it...it turned out great and her dad told me yesterday that she got it for Easter and just loved it...take care and until next time...

Thank God my customers are never interested in a visor.

OK, so I am trying it as I type this... seems to be working, I have not had too much trouble with the few visors I have done thus far, so I will probably just do it the convential way. However, if they start giving me a hard time... I know what will also work!

Have a great day!
