  • Applique Instructions

Does anyone know of an instructional video for sewing purchased or digitized applique designs!

The normal sequence for appliques in designs is:
Color 1 - running stitch outline of appliqued area.
Color 2 - stitchdown of applique fabric. If the applique is not a precut shape, you'll have to take the hoop out of the machine and then trim close to the stitching.
Color 3 - satin or deco stitch that covers the stitchdown running stitch.

      Twinsmom:

Here are a couple of great sites to learn from to get you up to speed with embroidery..

      http://www.emblibrary.com/EL/elproje...px?page=videos

      http://www.embroiderytipsandmore.com/

You can also access the second link from the marketplace section of this board, I believe!

Thanks, I was wondering "at what stage" of the process you applied your applique. Sounds like you stitch it down then remove hoop and trim, replace hoop and do tack down then satin stitch? Right? What if you want to precut your shape and just stick it on the "running stitch outline? can you do that? I will look at the two sites your recommended - thanks so much. twinsmom

If you have precut shapes then you do a tack down stitch lay your pieces in place and then I would sew another tackdown stitch to hold them in place then the zig zag stitch...

If you unhoop to trim and then try to re-hoop; you are asking for a LOT of registration issues- I don't recommend it.
