  • Fill popping through fill letters

I am trying to digitize a logo which has a fill backgound and letters on top which are to wide for satin stitches. I tried to reverse the stitch angle but I can still see white thread through the navy letters. I have tried increasing and decreasing stitch length as well as playing around with density. The material is pique. Has anyone else had similar problems and what can be done to resolve it.

go to your own home sewing machine if you have one, and wind your own bobbins with the same navy thread...someone posted this a couple years ago and it will work. I am not sure if the standard 'home' bobbin fits in the bobbin holder or not-I'm sure some one in here will quickly chime in to say if they've done it or not. You could also probably get away with black bobbin thread-it's not going to show through the navy. Also, tighten up the bobbin tension just a 'squeek' to keep it pulling down, not loose. Pique is a real pain sometimes because the material does not have a solid density-it has ridges and grooves. Add a solvy on top to help keep the lettering up, and don't let the presser foot push down too hard.
If all else fails, grab a fabric marker pen that matches the navy and just color all the white thread you see...been there, done that!

      couple things to consider/try:
      1. create a "hole" in your base fill, the letters and fill just overlap a little so your pull compensation doesn't create a hole that show apparel color through; that will also decrease the "armor plating" by having fill on top of fill in your original digitizing scenario; or
      2. increase your density on the underlay of the letters in hopes of putting a few more stitches between the letter layer, packing the first fill layer a little bit, or
      3. just increase the density of the letter layer, but then the armor coating effect may overwhelm it.

When I have that same problem, I place a piece of tear-away over the fill just before your top letters start sewing. I keep a supply of black tear-away (from JoAnne's) for this. You have to have an underlay for your letters of 'outline' stitches. Place your black tear-away down over the fill. Stop the machine after the outline is done. Carefully tear off the excess black material. Let the machine finish the letters. Obviously the reverse would work using white tear-away on a dark fill with light colored letters.
        Good luck!

Hey, all good ideas, maybe someday I will be educated enough to help someone too. Not sure how long that will be. Thank you all so much now I have to go to the next delemma which I will share at another posting. Thanks again
