  • Lab Coat

I have material similar to a lab coat and the letters pucker the fabric. I have used many different backings and still have the same issue. I even tried weblon as well as tear away. I adjusted the pessure foot and the letter height is .354. Not sure why this is happening. Any ideas? I Know "Those Rookies"

Condensed Block MG. Maybe I should go to a sharp needle. I have the acufeed on auto. How do you know what to set it at?

go to thread feed in the settings
set the lower thread feed to about 3 or 4 and try that. be sure to hit apply or it will not stick.
it allows a bit more thread and less pull on the material.
also what is your density the letters are quite small so it should not be to dense a 4.5-5 pt
        hope this helps.
a sharp needle may help an 75/11

        good luck

On other thing are they all caps in the alphabet.
If not you may be below the limit on the lower case letters.

Thanks for the advice I tried it and it was still somewhat pulled but not as bad. I hooped a cutaway and that was all. Should I try an iron on tear away, then lay a cutaway underneath?

I use E-Zee weblon with a light tear away. Acu feed of 3.

Actually I was using Madeira's weblon until recently,
They changed suppliers to cut their costs and now it is useless.
(They did not pass the savings on to the customer, they increased their price)

I now use the SheerStitch from AllStitch. it is by far superior and it is cheaper.
Soft, sheer, stable & translucent Minimizes embroidery stabilizer show-through on light colored fabrics Just a single layer for best "no show" results Ideal for lightweight knits - keeps outlines on track when hooped in with your knit fabric Use with any woven where softness is a consideration Perfect for sheer fabrics - translucent & soft
May be used with a light weight tear away backing, like the RipStitch #15 for extra stability
SheerStitch white has a diagonal embossed pattern for multi-directional stability.

                  Extremely stable.
                  and almost undetectable
works great as a stitch backing to keep stitches away from sensitive skin.

Gary, Lubricate your Red Pinch Rollers and replace them if you haven't changed them in over a year.

Also, increase the density of the letters to 4.5 pts. and try a smaller needle. Two layers of cut a way backing.

I have only had the machine for 1 and 1/2 months. I will try more backing. I need to read more about the red pinch rollers.

                        Thanks

On the subject of labcoats - what are about 4 good reliable fonts to use about .4 inches in height that are somewhat dense (at least substantial). I just got my very first job and I am scared to death of ruining the owner's garments!!! twinsmom

even if you have to use a 'normal' font, increase the pull comp to 130 to 'fatten' the lettering up...works for me! DO a test sewout first, in case you have to spread the letters apart (increase 'kerning' space) so they don't touch.
This makes it very legible and on textured cloth, makes the edges of the letters more even.
