  • Freightliner semi design?

Does anyone know who might have a stock design for a large 'modern' Freightliner semi? I have lots of stock designs for trucks, but my customer wants one that is specifically a Freightliner. He does not want to have it digitized as he only wants a couple of jackets embroidered and it would be too costly.

I did a gorgeous sample for him of a lovely modern semi only to find out it is a MACK. LOL!

I have bunches of truck designs. If you'd like you can have the customer get in touch with me or I'd be willing to sell a freightliner design to you they sew out very well. The price of it would be 100.00. Most digitizers would charge any where's from 150.00 - 200.00

NEVER let a customer talk you into doing a copyrighted design without paying for it! That's why digitizers and design houses charge so much-it isn't easy to do an exact 'model' of a vehicle-there are trademarks and copyrights involved. What you CAN do is digitize an image of a CUSTOMER OWNED vehicle, with their particular color pattern (paint scheme, logo on the side, etc.) just for that customer. BUT no matter which way you go, the customer needs to realize for CUSTOM WORK, you pay for CUSTOM DIGITIZING.

I should add, for the newbies here...this was discussed a couple years ago in the archives...
Dakota Designs 'used' to have certain vehicles in their pattern books, Ford, Chevy, etc.-until they got sued for violating copyright law! They had to REMOVE ALL vehicles that were not generic, even limosines-and cannot sell the old designs, and customers holding the designs were asked to destroy them. (yeah, I bet they all did...) so you won't find them anywhere.
On a current note-I was contacted by 'counsel' for United Way yesterday-I (had) a United Way logo on my website and pictures of products we have done FOR United Ways for 4 years...and was told to IMMEDIATELY remove them. So any of you doing work for United Ways...yes, you CAN do work using the logo, but you are now PROHIBITED from doing ANY FORM OF ADVERTISING showing the UW logo, even in mailings directly TO United Ways.
Legal beagles are going after violators big time.
SO be warned! And Harley Davidson is even worse about using their logo...Walt Disney is right behind them.
SO, if the customer wants a 'copyrighted logo' and does NOT have the rights to it, don't do it!

I too have been asked to put Logo's on shirts etc. by employees of companies that they work for. In fact Don and I just did three shirts for a customer yesterday, but before I do I make sure we have the company's ok to do this...last year I had a man call me from a Western Store we do work for and asked me if I would embroider "Wrangler" on a shirt if he bought it...I told him No that I wouldn't because that is a copywrite and I don't have permission to do that...with the companies that I do this for I have the OK so I don't worry about that but I will not do one without permission because of the trouble I could get in to with the company...so my advice is never do this unless you have permission and written permission is best...have a great day and until next time...

Roland, I have a 1998 Dakota catalog on CD which has about 200 tractor-trailer designs. No one from Dakota has ever contacted me about destroying any designs (or about anything else including asking me to update it) You would think they would want the money for updating the catalog but I guess not. I always ask for an email from the company if I'm unsure about anything. I have never had a lawyer contact me so I guess I'm lucky.
