OK... Fred's samples have arrived and I also bought SULKY "Tender Touch" iron on stitch cover (at JoAnn's). I applied them both to these baby sleepers and then laundered them...they both came off! I used the Med setting on the iron (it still may have been too hot), and cut a generous piece to apply. Any thoughts to what went wrong?

Fred--I assumed a med iron setting, there weren't any instructions with the samples.

Thank you everyone! This is an important project for me!

Are you using an Iron on backing and expecting it to stay adhered after you wash it.
I don't know of any that offer that. most just have enough adhesive to keep the material stable while sewing. and some may stay stuck for a while but they all release over time.

I must have misunderstood your post..

        Tricia,
Don't worry THERE ARE iron on backings that stay there even after you wash them a thousand times. That is exactly what most baby and kids clothes have behind their embroidered items, so they do exist.
I am going to call my local store tomorrow and ask for the name. I will get back to you, if you don't hear from me tomorrow, please send me an email (reminder).

I know there is "Cloud Cover" I believe the name is.
But I still have to Tack it down usually just place it when the outline runs or tack it down with the same color as the garment.

they never seem to stick for us beyond a wasing or two.

I would be interested in hearing what you use.

The fusible mesh has a low melt adhesive 260F or silk setting -8 seconds
This was made to eliniate shrinkage or scorching of your fabric.]

The Cloud Cover Stitch Fuses at 300F -325F wool setting

Do you have enough to try again?
