  • Brandsof vinyl cutters

If this is a topic that has been discussed, I apologize. Am looking at buying a vinyl cutter and was wondering which is the best Brand for the $$$'s to buy. Everyone has their own ideas and I would like to hear them. Thanks, and Merry Christmas all.

Digital Art Solutions has the best cutter on the market. It is a GCC Jaugar. I have a Roland GX24 and could kick myself but I think when Ibought mine, the GCC wasn't around. The GCC has a greater downforce pressure and speed of any cutter(for the price) on the market. Check out www.smartdesigns.com Good luck.

Allen Datagraph are the only ones MADE IN THE USA and the plant is right here in NH. I'm on my second one in 20 years...first one plumb woreout and was discontinued 5 years before I replaced it-now that's longevity-and not once did it ever break down.
What you need to tell us is WHAT are you going to cut-vinyl (adhesive) for signs and banners, or heat seal for iron-ons, or heat seal flock and cloth? Makes a big difference. I also have the Roland Versacamm digital printer/cutter. It not only prints up to 1200 dpi, it will diecut (knife cut) anything it prints (or doesn't print-will also cut regular vinyl) AND it does full color digital print iron-ons. But it won't cut twill and flock material.
SO, what do you want to cut?

Oh, also-do not...I beg of you, do NOT buy it through an online store-you NEED to be able to get a live, walking, talking person to come fix it if you have problems-and online stores DO NOT HAVE SERVICE TECHS.
Find your local 'signguy' and ask HIM where the nearest sign supply house is-they will have all the machines you want, AND supplies, AND a living person tech that will even deliver and setup your machine. Also, stay away, run fast, don't walk, from any 'online bargain equipment' sellers. There is a whole line of scumbottom import heat press and cutters on the web that are absolute garbage and once you spend the money...you are stuck with it.
I'd be glad to find some 'sign equipment' suppliers near you if needed-I have a nationwide listing book of good dealers.

We have a Rolland GX-24 and love it. Use it ALL the time for cutting ecofilm (super thin vinyl) for tshirts, uniforms, names, you name it.

Priced great and has been running for 2-3 years now without fail.

I use an ioline cutter. It has it's good points and bad. If you plan on cutting twill or applique I would suggest the Ioline because it creates your stitch files for you. It also cuts vinyl but you have a limited size (18x30 max) which is fine for names and numbers but not for some of the larger items. It is also quite a bit more expensive than the Roland and others.
