Madeira 60 wt Thread

Is was wanting to see if anyone has used the 60 wt Madeira thread for small lettering. I am trying but the thread just keeps breaking. I have always used the 40 wt thread for the lettering and have no problems just checking. Thanks for the Help.

I use the Madeira 60wt for all my small lettering and have never had a problem with it. What are your settings for the lettering and for the machine?

I do use Maderia 60 wt for small lettering. You have to use a smaller needle. I use a 70/10 ballpoint. I also slow my machine down to 900 - 1000 spm. Then it works great.

I was using a 65/9 sharp needle. I did not change any settings on the machine was not sure what I needed to change this is the first time trying to use 60 wt thread. I did try slowing down the machine. Do you use titanium needles for this? Will try the 70/10. For the settings I was using Micro block at 0.2 Inches at 85 letter width, density 3.2 column width at 110 Min. width 1.3 mm.

let up on the density-I never run lettering below 3.8, and the smaller the letter size (I've only gone down to .18 once) the higher the density number-I usually am around 4 to 4.5. The more threads you try to pack into a little space, the more chance of breakage...and the finer the thread, the easier it breaks!

what do you normally run at if 900-100 is slowing down for you. I run at 900 every once in awhile but generaly find 850 is perfect for me.

Your density is way to dense. Should be above 4 and probably above 5

Hey Donald!

I use a 65/9 sharp for my small lettering. I try and stick with an Arial type font and my density is at 3.7, cant remember if I slowed my machine down or not but I am thinking I don't with this. Also, I use a centerline underlay I believe will have to double check on this.

I think most of us here run the machines at least 1200 spm, I usually wont slow the machine down unless I really want to see how it is sewing which isn't that often...

Don't fill bad about cranking her up as it should be able to handle it...

Just wanted to Thank everone for the posts and the help. Changed some of the settings and it worked just fine. I am still new to this and the little reminders are a big help sometimes. I like this site will visit regular. Thanks to all again and Happy Holidays.
