Are you suppose to adjust the thread feed on the amaya each time you load a new design.

If you use custom settings such as "settings by color" for speed or thread feed(standard or auto feed), your settings will not be saved when you save the OFM out of AOS. I save my info in the notes and load them fresh each time.

Just leave your thread feed setting on "Auto Thread Feed" and you won't have to worry about the thread feed setting.

If you don't have the "Auto" feature, your software is many years old. Consider upgrading to something more recent to take advantage of the technological advances.
