  • Script Text Name on Shirts

I have a customer who gives me regular business embroidering names on shirts they sell. It's a left chest above pocket typically and they like to see it in script.
Those of you who have a favorite script font that sews out beautifully, could you share that with me?
I'm currently using Monotype Corsiva which is a True Type font. It's not really a script, but more of an angled fancy print. But I'm not 100% happy with it.
Any suggestions or advice would help! thx!

I like Athletic Flare. It's easy to read. Works for both male and female names.

Thx for the suggestions all! I'm pleased with the Script MT Bold, so I believe this is what I'm going to use for this customer all the time.

          Hi
i am just starting out too, basically taking on a previous customer. We have embroidered chef coats and hats, etc. and i'm having trouble w/ setting up the type. it's about .35 - .4 " and not sure what underlay to use. I keep sewing out different samples, but can't find anything i like either. we have used brush script from a tajima machine and it looks much different than the brush script from the melco. i have tried the melco script And melco block also, just wondering if anyone has different ideas.
          thanks

Try using just a zigzag stitch at 15 pt density and 70% border width and see how yo like it...also open the density up a bit on the lettering. If it is at 4, take it to 4.5 or maybe even 5.0....going to depend on what you are sewing on....

              KJC514,

I have learned that the original Brush Script font has issues. Too many to explain here. If you think it looks good and sews okay for you then more power to you.

For various reason, it has been followed up by "Brush Script 2" which has been digitized more recently using the technology we have today. You will find this as one of your "Operator Alphabets" (OA) which is listed at the top of your font list in Design Shop.

As I understand it, the original Brush Script font was digitized like 20 years ago or longer. The technology (or "smarts") wasn't as good then as it is today.

Although Brush Script and Brush Script 2 are not identical, they are close. Maybe this will be an option for you.

              Best of luck.
