  • Under Armour Golf Shirts

Has anyone embroidered on Under Armour golf shirts? Need tips on type of stabilizer, size needle to use, thread size. The design is 2000 stitches. I am embroidering on black shirts and don't want hoop burns to appear on the top of the shirts. Any ideas?

    Viv~

I just did my first run on Under Armour shirts about a week ago and I was told to set the digitizing up like knits and I hooped the shirts like usual with a layer of no show mesh then floated a piece of tearaway under that and a watersoluable on top and they turned out awesome!

Oh ballpoint needle is what I used as well...

    Good Luck!

Thanks, Tina. I will try the no-mesh stabilizer, floating tearaway, and soluable topping.

What does it mean when you float tearaway?

                Thank you!

You are totally welcome Viv! Glad I could help and glad they turned out.

Pam - float tearaway means that you don't hoop it and you just put a piece of tearaway between the hooped item and needle plate and sew as normal.

Tina is definitely correct about floating.

I think that it's always better to hoop it as it would certainly avoid any slippage but there are times "floating" works well
Esp w adhesive or "sticky" stabilizers as most of those are 1.5 oz tearaways
On a dense stitch count I would float another layer of tearaway
BTW Future plan for our new Eco-Stick will be to make a recycled fiber needle friendly adhesive cutaway
                    Well
