  • Colors REALLY strange

Re: V9 I had a really strange thing happen. I digitized a big design that, according to DS Pro+ V9, had 12 colors with 20 color changes (12/20). I carefully made a list of all the colors and changes and entered them in the OS. I checked that my final number was 20. It did NOT sew with the correct colors.

I did the File/PrintPreview and arranged that next to the Project window on the right. They DO NOT match!

Would any of you good folks like to take a look at this and tell me what you think? I think it is a glitch in V9 involving blends, because I have 3 different blends in this design and that is exactly where the screw up starts.

I can send you the jpg of the screen shot if you send me your email addy.

Juli, One thing you might try is to save the file as a DST or EXP, and see if you get the same error in an expanded file. Let us know how it turns out!

      Juli,

I did have that happen but it wasn't on the beta version it was on the full release. Did you have any two color lettering in your design? I have reported several problems since the full release came out and have not heard anything from Melco.

No lettering, just 3 areas of 2color "blends". It did not pick up the second color of any of the blends. But when I saved in dst, there were a total of 20 colors.

But I am worried about the V7/V9 savings problem. If I digitize in V9, and save in V7, it will not open in V7. When I try to open such a file in V7, I get a message that there is a problem and V7 must close.

I hate switching back and forth between 7 and 9. My brain just doesn't like switching back and forth. Some of the people I digitize for need V7 files.

          Juli,

I also digitize a few things for other folks that need Ver 7.

Ver 9 does some niffty things, but I won't use it for digitizing Ver 7 out going designs to other folks yet. Maybe later but not yet. As with all of the other Upgrades, saving to a lower version will always generate the warning message that some files may be lost if saving to a lower version of this software.

For myself i use 9, for others unless they have 9 , I digitize in 7 for them...less hassle and I know that they will get what I want them to have...did the same thing with Ver 4 to 5, 5 to 6, and 6 to 7....and now 7 to 9.

But what I am trying to say is that digitizing in V9 and saving that file to V7 does NOT work at all. DS V7 cannot open it. DS will just close down immediately.

                Juli,

I had a design that I did in V7 that had one blend. It worked great in V7. When I got V9 I loaded that same design and the colors were also screwed up like what you describe.

                  Juli,

Send me the file, I will open it and see if I have the same problem. I have had some problems that others have not and they were attributed to something on my computer that others may not have. Jeff was great at finding these problems, we fixed the saving as a version 7 problem the same way. It was something in the registry but I don't remember what it was to be able to tell you how to fix it.
