  • Monogram troubles

I am trying to do monograms on a small area and I keep getting thread break after thread break! I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me. Here are my settings:

    Letter 1 & 3: Juliette Script
    Height: .69 in
    Density: 4
    Short Stitches On
    Pull Com: 2 pt
    No underlay

    Letter 2: Juliette Script
    Height: 1 in
    Density: 3.8
    everything else same as above

    Any suggestions??

Try density at 3.2 and then check auto-density.
Drop your pull comp from 2 pt to 1pt.
Also, check your stitch length, and try 20pt.
Check your bobbin, and your presser foot.
I would at least have a center walk underlay at 20pt as well. Hope this helps some. For the lettering that is 1-inch, use a zigzag underlay.

Thx GF. I used your suggestions and it sews out much better! I think it was also the thread that was giving me a hard time. Needle was new, bobbin was fine, etc. I moved to a different color thread also. So I've got a nice monogram. Thanks again for your help!

        Hi HH5131,

Go back to the needle that was giving you trouble and turn it ever so slightly to right. Just a bit, rather than straight ahead. This also seems to help with thread breaks. If the thread is shredding . . . replace it if readjusting the eye to the right doesn't work. Glad the adjustments helped. I keep a logbook of all the different adjustments that work. Sure comes in handy!
