  • metallic thread bunching

Can anyone tell me what the normal settings are when using metallic thread? I am sewing a jacket back and my tests are on the same cotton blend fabric. My top thread is metallic and it is bunching, as if the bobbin is not tight enough. When I adjust the active feed my thread snaps. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

metallic thread is thicker than regular thread so the density of that color needs to be changed accordingly

I make sure my thread type is changed to Metallic and I slow my machine down to 850 spm...I still use a 75/11 needle and the brand I use is either Madeira or Melco Marts brand...

      Good Luck!

        Christine,
Metallic thread is to be used more for embelishment than how you customarily would use polyester thread. This means you should lighten up on the densities and lengthen the stitch lengths in the digitizing.
Also slow the machine down and use a needle meant for metallic thread. This would be a needle with a DBx7ST eye. It's longer and rectangular in shape as opposed to the standard oval eye.
You may also want to try and use the standard mode of thread feed.
        Hope this helps.
