  • Spandex/Polyester Track Jacket

Has anyone every done anything on these? Any recommendations on backing, material thickness, etc...? Fabric is very sensitive and even a simple thread break or bunch up can ruin the material...thoughts?

I haven't done these, however I have done quite a number of the tricot track jackets, and I think the guidelines would be similar. I put Ms. Amaya on auto accufeed and a lightweight cutaway. Put in all new ballpoint needles and don't make the design too dense. I use KK100 to affix the backing material to the fabric so it won't shift. Make sure and adjust your presserfoot. I put Ms. Amaya on about 850stitches perminute until I really see how it's going to stitch out.

Thanks for the info. I've only adjusted the presserfoot for hats (all the way down) and noticed (I have an XT) that nothing is visibly moving. How do you know when this is adjusted correctly?

I did one of this with a name only (no other design) and got a thread break between the 2nd and 3rd letter. This left a bunch up that couldn't be completely removed given the fabric. I was running at 850 also.

I haven't used ball point needles or the adhesive, but will give these a try too.

      Thanks for your help.

        1) Read your manual - hard copy or the "help" version on your computer that controls the amaya. I have a std amaya, not XT, so it may be different.
        2) How large are your letters? What font? If they are small, you may want to consider turning off the short stitches. Look at your alphabet sheets to see what it suggests for density.
        3) go to the fabric store and buy a yard or a yard and a half of "test" fabric (fabric that is similar in weight and stretchability to your jackets) ...when you get things running like you want them, move to your jackets. Much less expensive than ruining jackets

What is the stretch of the jackets like and what the weight of the material?
Also what is your stitch count and density?
Is there lettering and a satin stitch?
          Is the jacket slippery?

My fist thought we be the no show disagonal mesh fusible or non fusible w a tearaway behind it

Pls feel free to e-mail me off list for samples

In addition to finding similar fabric at a fabric store, try a thrift store like goodwill. This time of year is the best for finding practice items.
