  • Applique lettering question...

I am doing an applique on an XT. Its a 3" number for a softball team. I have the applique set up and working but I have 2 weird issues I cannot figure out.

    Briefly, my process is this:

I brought the applique into DS, made the applique using the applique function and use a tackdown and cover stitch in 2 colors. I then save the applique and then save the applique outline as 2 different sew files. I then sew out the outline, place the appliques and then sew out the tackdowns and cover stitches. That procedure all works for me.

The first issue I have is that after I sew out the outline, I load up the cover/tackdown file, but I have to manually put in an applique command at the beginning so the XT pushes the arms out for me to apply the applique. After everything finishes sewing, then the XT does the applique command...? It doesn't make sense why the applique command comes at the end of the sew-out. That doesn't prevent me from doing my work, just an annoying thing...

Second, and more frustrating, is numbers like "0" and "8" that have a circle in the middle of the number (and hence an extra tackdown and cover stitch), there is a walk stitch that walks across the applique that I have to manually cut off with scissors when I am done. To be more precise, lets look at the "0". There is an inside tackdown/cover stitch for the inside circle and there is an outside tackdown/cover stitch for the outer border. When it sews out, there is a walk stitch from the upper left corner of the inside circle to the outside tackdown/cover stitch.

I'd be happy to send out the design and you can see it when loaded into Amaya OS, if that helps.

Am busy and don't want to take time to address first problem. But for the 0: When the appliqued 0 is in design shop, I manually put in a singleline over the center of the 0 where I want it to sew. In design shop, the 0 will have an Outline1 and an outline 2. Usually the 2 is for the center. Just highlight all the points for outline 2 and delete them. You now will have the 0 without the jump stitches from outside to inside. You just have to make your single line the same width and density as your applique.
