opinion on cap backs

I use my 12cm round hoop to do the backs of hats. I also use my hoopmaster or corner of my table to hoop the hat.

I believe if you do a search on the forum there has been some discussion on this already.

My favorite way now is to use the small Slimline clamping system....fast easy and efficient..that's my 2 cents worth

12cm hoop all the way. I take the top and lay it upside down on the table with the notch on the hoop facing me. Take the cap with the buckle open in the left hand, take the 12cm ring and put it inside the cap where you want to hoop it, then push the bottom hoop onto the top hoop with the cap between them. Basically, everything is upside down but I just did 96 cap backs in about 3 hours with 2 machines and 4 hoops. Goodluck.

I have used both a pocket clamp and the 12cm ring. If you already have the the pocket clamp, you don't have to remove the the hat bracket, if you doing the front of the hat. Otherwise the 12cm ring is the perfect size.

What type of hat can you use with the 12cm. Can you use it on flex fit?

If you can get the material of the hat to fit smoothly, you are good to go. I have used the 12 cm on a flex fit, and it came out very nice.

In 16 years I've never used a hoop to embroidery cap backs. I use my emc6 & 10/4 cap frames.
I use a heavy weight backing that keeps the cap smooth and in place while sewing.
