• Need some advice!

Ok, a local business brought me in 2 fleece jackets to put their name on the right chest. The left chest already has their logo on and they are in a Lands End wrapping so I want too of course do my best as maybe they will shift some of the sales to me...

My question is on their logo they have put a background fill under the lettering to keep the fleece down so should I do the same on the right side for the name? Whenever I do fleece I just do a WS on top but I have seen this done before and was wondering what you all would do?

TIA~ :

I tried that she didn't care which way I went.

Thanks though!

I wouldn't bother for a name,
Usually the lettering is large enough to read without the underlayed square.
I would do a walk stitch and a zig zag underlay then your standard satin over that, and if the client didn't show a preference you'll have nothing to worry about.
Unless you spell the name wrong

Thanks Ron but I ended up doing the underlayed square and so glad I did looked really good even though the logo that was done by Land's End was slanted at least my work was straight and looked good!

Client happy and that is all that mattered!

When I get pre-lettered stuff to add on to, I go with the original lettering or logo-if it had a background fill, I do the same. If it didn't, I don't. Keeps the embroidery consistent-and if you want the clients job later on-that counts!
Lands' End...sounds like Dunkin Donut vests and jackets-that's what they were bringing into me for name drops. Found the identical vests in Sanmar and showed them sample, with me doing the embroidery for logo AND name drop same time, can save the local franchise about $15 per vest-and he likes that! Got a couple end of last winter from me, I'm hoping this winter the 'window crew' gets all from me. They are the ones that freeze on the job so he gets them all a vest. Soon as snow hits I'll bet I hear from him!
Only time I do NOT match previous embroidery is when it looks terrible. Puckering, outlines don't line up, etc.-then I show the customer what SHOULD have been done.

The thing I did differently is basically my backing part as it was a chocolate brown fleece full zip and they used white stabilizer and bobbin where I did a black iron on no show mesh along with a black bobbin looked so much nicer then the white on brown...
