• Looking for OFM Files?

Hi everyone ... I'm new to this board, new to this industry --- I'm just plain NEW! Anyway, I've been following this site for months now and find it really, really helpful.

I recently purchased an XT and am just getting up and running ... Someone told me about a digitizer that does their stuff in OFM files (they actually use DS!!!) I have DS Pro + but I have no time to digitize, nor do I have any clue how to do it, so I've sent this company a few designs and have been MORE than impressed!

They only charge $4 per 1k (which I think is a good deal, but again I'm new, so if it's not ... TELL ME! ) Anyway, I've had great luck with them ... Thought I'd pass it on.

Looking forward to getting to know many of you on this site!

Shalisa,

I checked out their website and in the question and answer section found these....

. What formats can you deliver my designs in?
Tajima DST, Wilcom EMB, Ethos ISI, Wings MLS, Barudan FMC, Melco DOS EXP, Toyota, Pfaff, and ZSK, cnd, fdr, dst, 100, t09, ksm, bar, 0oo, dsz.

There is no mention of "Melco ofm" format in the above?? CND is a type of wireframe format but is not quite the same as ofm.

. How much do you charge per design?
We charge USD 5.00 per 1,000 stitches with no minimum charges.
We give volume discounts.
We do not charge for edits.
We do not have a 24-hour rush fee.

Also did not find where they advertized using Design Shop to create digitized designs....still looking tho.......

I prefer using companies I can call on the phone (not internationally) if there is a question or problem

Rod,

I saw the same stuff, BUT if you request a quote and/or order there is a drop down box for "file type" and Melco .ofm is one of the choices. I've done 7 designs with them so far and only 1 of them needed minor edits.

As far as prices is concerned ... it says 5.00 per 1k, but they are only charging 4.00 ... I'll post my last charge off their website later today. I don't know --- I'm NEW and clueless, but I've been VERY happy thus far with them.

Steve ... I agree with you --- that was my initial concern as well, but I have Skype and for less than like 0.015 cents per minute you CAN call them ... They are in Mumbai and I actually did call them to see how good their service was ... Amazingly enough they spoke PERFECT english and did everything I asked of them.

If you want specifics --- send me a PM and I'll call you --- I was pretty amazed with this company so far.

WOW ... So much for trying to help out. I just thought I'd throw it out there since I've seen some discussion on it in the past ... Wasn't meaning to offend anyone by suggesting an alternative in obtaining OFM files.

If it doesn't work for you --- No big deal. It works for me.

Shalisa, don't let it get to you...there's members that whenever possible will deal only with USA based companies-not overseas.
I'm the same way with ordering ad specialties...I know 99% is made overseas but I prefer to deal with a US company doing the imprinting over here-not dealing with artists across the world that I can't understand, or customs holding up orders, etc.
Unfortunately-except for I think 3 companies-all your teeshirts, sweats, etc. are NOT made in the US and that includes Hanes, Jerzees, Gildan, made in Vietnam, China, Thailand, Guam, and several 'island territories' still under the control of the US so the products get quasi legally labeled 'product of the US'...still sweat shop labor.
