  • Thread breaks and birds nests

I am a new user. I am a system engineer by trait and have a very strong sewing/arts & crafts background, so I thought getting into this would be a breeze.. at this point I am ready to pull my hair out!

My XT was running great when the tech was out to my house (we bought it used but its only a year only) now its like every twenty stitch there is either a birds nest or a thread break. It happens more with darker colors (if that matters).

The birds next are so bad they are getting trapped in the bobbin holder. (which now there is a string hinding in the back of the bobbin holder which I can not get out... any ideas???)... I know my issue is something simple but I have tried everything in the manual. Any one have a cheat sheet of things to check or suggestions.

I am desperate for some guidance!

Thanks in advance for anyones help.

Is this happening on just one needle or all of them? Check your thread path, especially the tension rollers; the thread may have slipped out. You might need to change out the rollers. Try the same thread on a different needle to see if it has the same effect. Could be bad thread but my guess is it's your thread path. Nesting usually occurs when the thread has slipped out of the upper tension. On my home machine it happens when it has slipped out of the takeup lever.
