  • embroidery on baseball bags?

Good afternoon to all! Hoping someone has advice on embroidering on a bag brought to me yesterday. It is a long, long bag that the baseball players haul their equipment in. It has rollers on the bottom, but my concern is the shape of the darn bag. They want the embroidery on the side in large bold block which would take more than one "hooping", guess it would be using the fast frame. So would need to line it up (YUCK). I did warn the lady who dropped the first one off that they may need to have the name printed on (screenprint)? It has "Louisville sluggers" imprinted on one side. Do you think this is embroider-able? Is anyone here familiar with this type of bag? And if it can't be embroidered, is there anyone here in the Houston/Katy area who does screenprinting that I could recommend to the players? I'm trying to tie ends up here and would not mind sending the caps to be embroidered as well. I'm having neck surgery in 3 weeks and would rather have one person do the whole group of player's things. Thanks! Edna

Could you get a vinyl cut or a screenprinted transfer and heat press it on. Stalh's could do the vinyl if you don't have a cutter and Transfer Express does screenprinted transfers for names. Embroidery might be difficult for both hooping and lining up. Just thinking outloud. Good Luck

I know jobs are difficult to turn away, but doing the side of a baseball bag and having to hoop the design twice, might not be worth the time and money. You will have to support the bag, while it is on the machine, not an easy job. I have done baseball bags, many times, usually on the top flap, even doing that, the bags become heavy.

        Yo Etched,

What Sharon and I have found to work the best is the clamping style hoops. Melco sells them as Slimlines. In this case, assuming that you can open these bags to get a hoop in them, the large jacketback ( 12" X 9" ) is what we would use. Using fast frames would be difficult on this large of a bag, even using clips to hold it to the frame.

The bag would also need to be supported on both ends for the weight..........
