• Hoop Storage - What do you use?

Hi All,
I was thinking about trying to put something on a wall so that I can store my hoops on it. I don't have enough room, so I thought I'd try to utilize some wall space. I've seen some racks out there but I am not sure where to find one. I checked Home Depot and Hobby Lobby - no dice.
Can anyone share some ideas of how you are able to store your hoops, or even thread on a wall.
I could probably just put some nails in, but I still want it to look decent.
Thanks all!!

I have a couple of sheets of pegboard attached to the wall; then use various hooks. I have several of the one that are long, so I hang the hoops on them largest in the back to smallest in the front. The ones I use most often at an easy reach, the ones I use less often, higher on the wall. Not fancy, but very efficient (for me, anyway).

Theresa,
Where did you find the pegboard and the hoos? I could not find anything like that at Home Depot.
Thanks!!

Kay,
What's a "hoos"?
We purchased our pegboard at "Home Cheepo" also for something like $12.50 a sheet. Each sheet is 4' x 8'. If they don't have it, maybe "Blowes" will carry it (Lowes). You could even try your local lumber supply house.
Good Luck,

Kay & Theresa,
I didn't read the subject line when I replied before. I just saw "pegboard".
We use our pegboard for storing our thread and small things like that.
Our hoops are stored on a 1"x4" board that is screwed to the wall horizontally. In this board we have those rectangular shaped bicycle hooks screwed in. One for each size hoop we have. These are stronger than the little metal hooks on the pegboard and are padded with a rubber coating. They are cheap too. Like a dollar a piece.

Ed,
Thanks! You are definitely quite an authority on embroidery as well an authority on slang names for stores!

by the way...forgot to mention..I keep thread in several of those plastic roll-around drawer units (Target a good source). The small ones I have organized by color number (just like the thread chart)..so each is easy to find...the larger ones are in another cart. Keeping in a drawer protects them from the elements (heat, cool, dust, etc). I think I got the pegboard either from "home cheepo" (as Ed says) or a local larger hardware store. We have one out here called Orchard Supply Hardware (Sears bought them a few years ago)..I may have purchased it there...and they have a good selection of different hooks too.

I agree I got my pegboard from Lowes but I got the wood grain looking stuff so it looks a little nicer and it was like $16.50 for the 4 x 8 sheet. Then I went online to get my hooks and wound up buying them off Ebay as that was the cheapest I could find. This was mainly done for all my million rolls of thread ok not that many but a couple hundred rolls +.
For my hoops I had an old chester draws that wasn't being used and missing a few draws so I put my hoops in one draw and all my small pieces of stabilizer in the other. It works!

I also used peg board and then we cut dowls to fit the different needs. Then we painted the whole thing to match the wall. Not only is it great storage, it is a piece of art.

Kay, you might look at my gallery photos on my website and see the slatwall I installed. It is not cheap but covers the walls in my shop from 2.5ft up and everything hangs up with hooks. Hooks are an investment too. I love it and even put some in the garage for the tools.

We use peg board we got at local lumber yard. 4x8 sheets with holes in them. We got pegs for both thread to be on and hoops from valudisplay.com. Hope this helps.

I just use cheap bicycle hanging hooks. Each hook will hold @ 8 small hoops. There are several different styles to choose from as well. Look at Depot or Lowe's.
