  • lunch kit ??

i have had several customers bring in lunch kits and backpacks these past few days. All had a plastic lining that stitched just fine. One had a plastic lining but a foam insulator and after stitching it basically perforated around the plastic and almost came out.(I told her to just put a piece of duck tape on it so that it would come unravel anymore)
anyway now someone brought me two that have a silver foil type lining with a stiff cardboard type center. Any suggestions on how to embroidery on this?? she told me to just try it and if it didn’t work she was ok with it. she choose the font “chalk” if anyone is familiar with that, its kinda thick stitch.
Has anyone done this type of lunch kit?? If so, any suggestions? I might be able to convince her to choose a different font if it will work better.

    Thank

We just did some last week, every 'back to school' time we get a couple in. I have a roll of 'banner patch' vinyl tape-clear, see through, and it is exterior proof. After sewing out, cut a patch of this 'tape' with rounded corners and firmly press it
over the sewn back, extended at least half an inch beyond all thread areas. Have the lunch box on a flat counter or table-then heavy handed squeegee the tape onto it. Do it nice and neat and they think it came from the factory. Since it's made for patching commercial 'vinyl canvas' banners outdoors-it will stay put on the lunch bag as long as the kids don't sit there bored and try peeling it off. No other way around it-the inner linings are not a 'flexible' vinyl that can take perforations like vinyl jackets, etc.
Even just 3 large initials, 2" high, density of 5 or so...still cut the liner like a razor knife.

        Just posted info on it- Tear-Aid Repair Patches (3" x 30' roll) but it's $61.09 from Fellers.com
I'd be interested if several want some short lengths
to roll off a yard here or there for a couple bucks.
