  • Color gradient

    Hi all,
Can anyone tell me an easy way to add a color gradient to a design. Like water and adding a few lines of a darker color to add demension. How would one digitize it over the top of an existing background. I might be over my head here but its all about what the customer wants.

I am so glad you asked that question because I am working on a similar design. I have a arch, like a rainbow, that starts out as a light color then gradually gets darker toward the top. So lets hear from you terrific experienced digitizers out there.

You can do a fill stitch over the area you want shaded in the shape you want it to be with the following settings.

      - No Underlay
      - Trapunto Box Checked
      - High number for density (I use 8-12)
      - Stitch length adjustment according to the size
of the area you are shading

I think I covered it. I use the same technique for doing a fade on letters as long as they are fairly good size letters.

If you have the Dakota Flame Alphabet you can look at the properties there. Thats what I based mine off of.
