  • Thermal Baby Blanket

I'm getting ready to embroider a name and birthdate on a Rabbit Skins thermal baby blanket. It is pretty unstable and wondered 2 things: Should I wash it before sewing? What stabilizer(s) should I use? Any suggestions are welcome!
    Thanks

I am not to0 familiar with Rabbit Skins
    If it is fleece
I would suggest a water soluble fibrous stabilizer

    http://www.lebowconsulting.com/stabilizer-reviews.htm - washaway

The fibers of the stabilizer will entangle themselves with the embroidery threads and fleece
so that no stabilizer will be seen on the reverse side

If you like Pls e-mail me off list [email protected] and we will send samples

    Sincerely
    Fred

Hey, Fred, since it's a thermal weave (which makes me think of waffles), wouldn't it be better to use nylon mesh to keep the design from waffling (for lack of a better word) after washing??? I absolutely defer to your knowledge and since I've never used the fibrous stabilizer, don't know how well the lettering stays flat after washing.

Actaully the no show nylon mesh would work better as it is there to hold the stitches firmly in place just about forever.
I might also add a tearaway to make the letters more crisp
However I do not think that you would want to see the little bit of mesh on the reverse side but it is a better option if the reverse side is OK
