  • Sewing on Long Sleeves?

Hi. Is there a way to sew multiple designs down the length of a long sleeve denim shirt? Is there a hoop out there that will let you sew the entire sleeve at once?

    Hi Robyn,
We have used the fast frame (the one I call the pant leg size) to embroidery names down sleeves of college sweatshirts. You might check it out in your MelcoMart catalog or online. If you want to sew completely down the sleeve you may have to mark the sleeve and hoop it twice.

I bought the Durkee Hoop M-30x15-400. You can see it on their site at https://ryoba.forest.net/dehoops/mfg....asp?mfg=melco

I actually bought a hoop that you could use in the 30w X 15h or in the 15h X 30w orientation. It has 4 arms. Pretty neat. I don't see it on their site anymore. You might call them to see if they have that one, because it is a 2 in 1 hoop.

        Dear Sharon,
When using the fast frame for the sleeves what backing do you use? Anything special as far as digitizing the letters. We had done this but it always is a challenge.

          Hey Juli in Kona!

Thanks for the hot tip on your Durkee hoop that fits the Amaya. I talked to Mike at Durkee Enterprises, very nice guy, very helpful and knew exactly which hoop I needed for this sleeve project. And, like you said, it's a 2in1 which gives me more sewing options. And, it's half the price of the long sleeve fast frame! Yah...

After I sent the post I zoomed in on the picture and realized that it was the 2-in-1. I use this hoop all the time for long narrow things like Name, birth place, and birthday. Or long names going across or down a shirt. Very handy size.

Is this hoop on their site? I didn't see anything that looked like it would hoop a whole sleeve. We have used the sleeve fast frame from melco in the past.

It's the M-30x15-400. No, no the whole sleeve, but about 25 cm. I would think that the length of the sleeve is longer than the reach of the machine, so you'll have to rehoop anyway. I do have a very long Fast Frams hoop that is 18" long. But you have to split the design and that drive my brain crazy trying to figure it out! The 30 x 15 works pretty well.

                  Hi Margaret,
If I remember correctly, we used the Athletic Block and made sure we had it "beefed up" enough with pull-comp, edge walk, etc. to cover nicely. For stabilizer we either used the sticky back or two layers of poly-mesh and a light spray of adhesive spray and small clamps all around.
