Stitching Numbers on Hat Backs

We have 250 New Era Wool hat backs to put numbers on. I have been using a slimline frame on the Amaya. For some reason we can't get these to stitch out smoothly. Any suggestions?
Have tried tear away and sticky backing. Have to use several clips becasue the sweatband seam prevents clamping down tight. Thanks for your help.

I don't remember were I read it but I think someone mentioned putting that style of hat on the regular hat frame.Mount the hat bill down and remove the table?

I have not done the New Era Wool caps yet however I do alot of baseball hat backs and I use a regular 12 or 15cm frame and no backing and they turn our great every time.

A good way to do numbers on the backs of hats is to use the XT clamps. These go right on the cap driver just like the cap frame and they are easy to line up and use. The only downside to using microclamps on the backs of hats is that with the biggest clamp your sewing field is just under 3.5" wide by 3.75" tall. But for just numbers or smaller names or logos these will work ideally.

They will only work on XT's.

I may have missed some of this thread, but wanted to say that most of the time I use my 4.68" round hoop on cap backs.

There are 3 XT clamps and they are all 3.75" tall, the widths are 2.5", 3" and 3.5". Essentially it is a clamp with two windows and you loosen a black bolt at the top of them to open it up. Then you slide in your garment and whatever backing you want to use and tighten it back down. They work great for backs of hats, pockets, cuffs, ties, etc. We also have a framing gauge for them; it screws onto a table like the cap framing gauge and you can use this to free up your hands so that you can get it in there nice and straight.

No, they are different than a slim line. They work the same way with two windows squeezing the garment together, but it is a different setup for these. On the slim line there is a chassis that each window screws into; these slide right into your cap driver just like the cap hoop.
