I just got this note from ELINE boards
Im a gonna see can I come up with $300

    _________________________________________________

I am at the Baltimore trade show.
Lee Caroselli is selling her entire, incredible design collection (see
www.balboastitch.com) for $300.00 from now until June 25.

I want to tell you why this sale is happening in the hopes that you will buy the
collection and tell any embroidery friends who don't get Eline to buy it as well.

Lee was selling her designs at a website where many designers sell. She decided to
go with someone else instead. The mailing list of her customers was given to her and
the new seller for accounting purposes and they (the new seller) inadvertently
mailed a notification to her customers regarding the new affiliation.

This error resulted in a lawsuit. INCREDIBLY, a judement was entered against Balboa
for $365,000.00 not against the company that sent out the mailing.

When she left the court, the original distributor told her he wanted only her
designs, the Balboa name and website, not the money. It was proven when the
distributor was required to open his financial books that over ONE MILLION dollars
worth of designs were distributed by them and Balboa was never compensated.
Unfortunately, this did not cancel out or make any impact on the court and the
    $365,000 judgement.

Lee made the decision to sell the design collection through June 25 for $300.00 in
order to raise the money in time to satisfy the court and keep her designs and
    company in the family.

I want to help her do that and I would like for all of you to help me. If you do not
have her designs, find the $300.00 to purchase them as it is a decision you will
never regret. Tell any and all embroidery friends who may not get this message from
me about this opportunity and ask them to join the effort to help right what I
consider an incredible wrong. If you are on any machine or software users lists, get
the word out TODAY so that Lee and Keith can have peace of mind and rightfully enjoy
    the fruits of their labor.

Anyone who knows Lee or knows of her recognizes the calibre of person she is and we
all know that the award-winning designs created by Lee and Keith Caroselli are in a
    class by themselves.

The Carosellis will thank you, I thank you, the industry will thank you and any one
who believes in justice will be proud of what we have done.

Thank you all for being here- and for being there for my friends, Keith and Lee and
    Dawn Caroselli.

There has not passed through this industry a more committed or talented group.

Last week I received an e-mail from Lee about the offer of the entire library for $300. I was very surprised that the whole library was offered for that price so I already ordered mine on Friday. Thank you for let us know what happened to Lee. I will pass the info to other people I know in the industry.

    Thank you,
    Maggie

I had received the email from Balboa about a week ago as well. Since it was too good to pass up, I ordered the set. I had no idea this was going on in the backgroud.

Lee is an extraordinary talent, an amazing digitizer, and wonderful teacher. The family has contributed so much to our industry.

For any one who has never tried her designs, they stitch out beautifully and are gorgeous.

I believe the last day to order is June 25.

        Just a quick question
Balboa uses Wilcom software (I would think)
        DST format yes
        But this is offered in
        DST
        EXP
        and CND
        Which
has less issues with design shop??
        I have use all three
but have never had to actully choose only one file type for and collection.
        I usually use the CND.
unless I am using a DS .ofm file.

        Any help here??

Just wondering if the wilcom CND would be the same as melco's.

        Thanks

I order DST in any s'ware I buy or have digitized for me. I use DSPRO+. I open up the design, then so a save-as and choose the ofm format...never had any problems ordering anything in dst and being able to use it.

            Thanks
I am refering to the format that would respond to alterations the best.
like not changing design properties like fills, density , registration ect..

I think DS pro works with CND and calls it .ofm which contains all the extras the program saves with the design/ project.

Just wondering if haveing it in CND would allow DS to use it as a wire frame and manipulate it the best. or do I just stick with the DST and have to convert to wire frame if needed??

I know I can use all these formats just really don't know if DS will change the CND file any way when it comes from another program.
            Thanks

Go with the CND....Design Shop ofm and cnd files look identical and you can edit them without any difficulty if necessary...

Year ago Wilcom and Melco were partners. Something happened with the arrangements and they went their seperate ways. The designs have worked that I have used. As far as Balboa Threadworks, they are great people. I wanted a design that Lee did several years ago that they removed from their catelog. It was religious in nature and she did't want so see it all over the internet printed on tees and used in a undignified manner. They have done great work, wonderful cutomer service and have always been helpful on the phone and at shows. It always brings to mind, why do bad things happen to good people? Margaret

Keith said the CD comes with all three formats. No need to choose as you will see if you try to pick one when you place the order. It lists all three, but you can't pick one.
I searched through the DS Pro+ manual looking for that answer too, only an hour later to just order it as expanded and not be able to, Talk about a waste of time! Now I at least know for next time when it is required, thanks Rod for the much needed info. I remember them telling us in class which was best, but couldn't find it anywhere yesterday.
Oh well, it is ordered and done now.

I wish I know who is the distributor that did this bad thing to the Carosellis so I don't buy anything from them.

Help me out here, please. I'm license shy. Can we sell all of the items in this package, or are we limited to giving them away to friends and family, similar to the Disney-type stuff that Amaya sells from Dakota?

Every design we buy is licensed. The license from Balboa says we can use the designs for any sewing, but we cannot sell the design itself to anyone. There is no limit on how much we use each design, we just cannot give/sell/lend the design file to anyone else. It is the best kind of license for embroidery out there.

Interesting, I just got an email from Garment Graphics (don't know who they are and have never done business with them) offering Balboa's full line for $595. Is this is the distributor where the problems originated?

I heard that Garment Graphics is selling the Balboa collection for the extra money and are giving all the money to the Carosellis. If you have not bought the entire Balboa collection yet, the last day is the 25th. The word is this collection usually goes for $3000-4000. Go to balboastitch.com for the $300. deal. I ordered mine over the weekend. I talked to Lee at the Ft Worth show last month, and bought her digitizing class. See seemed like a wonderful and talented person. I purchased the design collection just to help one of our own out. I'm sure I will get some use out of it.
