  • 3D Puff

I'm about to embark on a new adventure with 3D designs and to make it even more difficult I'm doing it on a hat. I would like to do a single, script, letter on the hat front with the 3D foam but I've never tried it before. Does anyone have any "Rules of thumb" for me. Size of foam?- min./max. Thread feed adjustments? How do I get Brush Script to sew in 3D? I'm sure there's more questions I should have but as I say I'm a rookie. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The thing that you have to do is to flatten the ends of each letter. Take the letter F. You have 3 blunt ends. You have to digitize zig zag stitches on each end to flatten them down. Then use only the edge walk underlay. Using the 2mm puff foam will give you a very nice loft and make sure that it is the same color as your thread (or I'd go darker if yu can't match it well). Set the presser foot up pretty high. If you do "center Down" you can play with it until it touches but doesn't flatten the foam. The actifeed should be set really high - 20 is probably not too high. And practice on scrap before you commit your hat!

    Good luck,
