How do you embroider on Coaches Jackets that have a lining that you can get under because it is sewn in all the way around? Do you just sew right through it? If you sew through to lining, how do you keep the lining from slipping against the shell? Seems to me it would be hard to hoop.

Jackets that do not have hidden pockets can be difficult to hoop. Some jacket manufacturers have the hidden pockets and some don't. If it doesn't have the hidden pocket, I just sew right through the lining and use a light cutaway backing. Make sure the inner lining lines up with the outer lining (You don't want the inner lininig to be a couple inches off when you sew it or will feel funny to the person wearing it.) Also make sure it is taught and no wrinkles in both inner and outter linings.

I have often ( not always) been able to open a seam usually at the hem to allow the hoop to fit inside, embroider, then redo the seam. Check the way the lining is attached, and you may find a seam that can be opened.
