setting column splits for satin fill?

Always something to drive me nuts. Digitizing custom 'lettering' for a logo on a jacket today.
Like the letter (capital) i, is actually from Optimus font but I don't have that in as a font.
It's too big for a solid satin stitch, .35 wide and inch and a half high. I tried fill pattern 1 and 11, no matter how I try, 2 partitions makes it 4 rows, I can live with 2 rows. Fill patterns look cheesy and it's on a work jacket back-so any satin stitch over 1/8" or bigger will get hooked and pull out.
How or where is the setting so I can specify TWO partition rows? All capitol letters in this, lots of T, R, I, L, E, so it will be used everywhere.

Hi Roland,
If all you want is to divide the column into 2 rows, what you would do is figure the number of points in the width of your column. Remember that there are 254 points to the inch. Your ruler will show you in inches and points the length when you measure. Your .35" wide column is approx. 90 points. For 2 rows use a 1 fill pattern with the points (90) divided in half for approx. 45 point for the stitch length. This will give you 2 equal rows. For a flatter fill I would use a 3 partition with a 45 stitch length.

Didn't work...I checked 'status' and it is 73 points wide, I tried fill 1 and fill 11, 2 partitions, and every size stitch from 25 to 100 and the best I could get it down to is 3 rows wide. Nothing I did resulted in 2 columns!
Other letters like the 'O' are wider in some spots so I may have to stick with a fill pattern. I know from experience on the Carhart type jackers for mechanics that any satin stitch over 1/4" won't last long. They beat them to death.
Anyone have any other ideas? I have to get sewing this within half an hour. 1 Jacket today, he'll bring in the rest (sponsor supplies them) next month.

If you have the newer version of DS then there is an option to set split satin that makes it very easy. If you don't have a newer version then it would be easiest to have someone that does digitize things like this for you and you can focos your energy on other things.

I used to run a regular satin and then go back over the center of the satin with a 10pt singleine stitch to hold down the wide satin and it looks very similat to a split satin and works great.

I'm still running Design shop 6, Amaya 7 I think...last upgraded in 2006. Since I never went up to an XT I haven't bothered go for upgrades that aren't free and really don't apply to my machine!
With the old dongle I can't use upgrade from anyone else either, we tried. Anyone sending my files to work on or sew for them in emergency has to save it as the older version.
Sometimes progress is just a pain in the butt!
