  • Solar Active Thread

    I was wondering if anyone has run the solar active thread through the Amayas. If you have how did it do with the speed was there alot of breaks and did you have to do anything special with the feed etc...

    Thanks;

    Yup, been there done that. Did a cap with the stuff. Results were excellent. This was before Auto-Actifeed, and way before I really had a clue as to what I was doing. What you are doing is sewing a monofilament thread (fishing line) on fabric. I got mine from Madeira. When I pulled on it it broke fairly easily (worse than rayon)so I upped the material feed by 4 points over what I thought I needed. Slowed the machine down to 800 spm and loosened the bobbin just a hair. This stuff is almost like a 60 wt thread so I adjusted the density as well, as I recall I dropped it .4 per setting in the auto-density settings. Made some glow in the dark caps, cool, way cool. Am not sure what you are doing with it but this worked for me.
