• Jansport tees or heavy tees

Hello,
I have a customer looking for a heavy LS tee. I showed him a Gildan 6.1 oz shirt and he would still like something heavier. I can not find a heavier weight than 6.1. He showed me a Jansport LS tee that he liked the weight of. Does anyone know where I can get LS Jansport tees or a heavier LS tee than 6.1 oz??

Thanks,
Susan

Try the Port Authority tees from Sanmar...they are heavier and thicker than the Gildan even thoug they list almost the same 'weight'. And they are longer cut.

Camber has 8 oz T's. They are fairly expensive for T's but nice and heavy.

Thanks Aaron & Roland.

Aaron,
Can you tell me what the price of the LS tee from Camber costs?? I couldn't find any prices on their site. I only need 6.

Roland,
That is nice to know. I checked a bunch of suppliers for the weights they listed and didn't find anything heavier than 6.1 oz. Wonder why it would be heavier with the same listed weight?? I may try SanMar depending on the cost of the Camber tees.

Thanks!!

Susan,

I agree with Roland about the SanMar tees.
They do feel thikcer than the same 6.1 Gildan tee.
My customers have been very happy with them.

I just called Camber and they are sending me samples...same price as regular shirts, just no $5 handling fee. The short sleeve tees are $9.00 and long sleeve mock necks are $12.75. They also have polos, long sleeve tees and pocket tees. However, I did not get the price of those items. They are 8 oz.jersey knit cotton. HTH Debbie

WHite/Natural are 10.25 and the darks are 12.25. They are 8 oz and made in the USA so they are not cheap. I did some of their heavy sweatshirts in tall for a custoemr and the tall crew sweatshirts were around $30 but the customer loved them

the weight on tshirts and shirts is figured on something like the 'per square foot' of material or something...and has nothing to do with how 'thick' the material is. 100% cotton is almost twice as thick as the same weight 50/50 material, just the 'loft' of the fibers I guess.
The Port Authority shirts are also cut larger and longer, so holding a large teeshirt against a large Gildan feels a lot heavier...yet holding the two fabrics together-you'd swear one is the 6 oz. and the other is an 8 oz. or heavier. And if you get a chance to get one of the Duluth Trading Co. teeshirts-WOW those are heavyweight-but they don't sell wholesale.

Thanks everyone for the help on the heavy weight tees!! From googling JanSport, I'm concluding that Jansport is exclusive to licensed sports teams merchandise. And that is exactly what my customer showed me. The tee is actually very nice and it feels more like a sweatshirt than a tee. Tomorrow I will present him with the slightly heavier SanMar tee or the much more expensive heavy tee from Camber.

It is so great to have the knowledge and experience of so many other embroiderers. Thanks everyone for all the help and guidance you give!!!!
