I am trying to embroidery on dog collars - the strong braded flat types and get too many thread breaks - suggestions please

The first thing I'd do is change he needle. Try bigger AND smaller sizes. I have read where both of them work at times. Nothing to loose by trying.

What type of thread are you using. If it is Rayon then use poly thread because it is stronger As for needle, use 75/11. What is your setting for speed and tension? You may need to slow down just a bit to 800-900 stitches per minute. Try auto-tension and make sure the default lower setting is set so it will not go below 2.
