Good Morning Everyone,
I am very new to the embroidery business and so far am self-taught all the way. My biggest problem/slow down thus far is hooping. I am always getting puckering or losing my center or the back of the hoop slips around when I try to position because I can't see it and all has resulted in pure frustration. I am NOT in the position just yet to purchase a fastframes-type system, so for the most part I'm using Melco round hoops 9cm to 18cm. I am fine with the 9 and 12 cm hoops, but after that is when the fabric problems start. I am looking for suggestions on the following:
1) Are there any additional tricks for puckering (I already read the posts about marking the hoops to find the center - very helpful)? I am repositioning the hoop way too much and end up stretching the fabric.
2) Do any of the companies have a guide for using the different types of stabilizers and backings by fabric? I know every embroiderer tends to have a different opinion on what to use, but I'm wondering if any general guide exists for beginners like me.
As always, any advice is appreciated!
Thanks,
Margie
