Bucket Hats...how?

I tried a 'search' here for hooping bucket hats and couldn't find anything-would have bet that in the last year someone told how to do it. I've got a couple dozen black 'bucket' hats to do up for Over the hill stuff and have tried both the CCF and WACF hoopers-cannot get either one to grab the hat because the brim goes all the way around. Need to get maximum 'height' for sewing space on the 'face' of it and not sure if using a flat round hoop would work because of the 'seams' on the top and brim.

It has been a while since I did some outback type hats (bucket with a wide brim). I used the WACF (I don't use the CCF) and recall that I folded the sides up and could sew on the front only.

I have used the WACF before. 2 pieces of backing, tighten the strap as tight as it will go, pull the band only out and hoop just it. The brim will be on the sewing side of the hoop.

Hey, i just did a black bucket hat tonite and i used the slimline 6.5x5 i think it was and it worked great.

A Conventional Cap Frame CCF works just fine for bucket hats. Hoop as a regular baseball cap and sew on. We did a ton this summer with no problem at all...

BTW, with the brim you kind of fold it on the sides and then pull it thru like a baseball cap brim on the front if that makes sense
