Can anyone tell me if I need to use backing for a coumputer bag?
If so what should I use.

Yes by all means - use a stabilizer
As Lands End does -
Use a 1.5 oz non directional tearaway in wht or blk
You will be improving the "tambourine skin" type tension in your embroidery hoop or frame area
This will give you a little extra punch or sharpness to your definiton or registration
Some of the better "wet laid" non woven stabilizers also contain silicone to aid in needle glide
This could be a factor here.
