how to hoop denim with quilted back

Hi, I am new to this and I need to know all about how to embroider on a denim jacket with a light quilted back.
How do I get the quilting not to move around. what needle? what thread?
any helpful hints/ thanks for your help...

Use a double thick wood hoop. Hoop fairly loose and then tighten the hoop. Be sure to pull the wrinkles out of the liner on the inside so you don't sew over any wrinkles. i would use standard 75/11 BP needles and your regular 40wt thread whatever brand you use.
