  • Roland GX-24 Sew Discs For Applique

So, it's been a while since we discussed this, but has anyone created sew discs with Design Shop for use in creating applique in conjunction with the Roland GX-24 Digital Cutter?

I have pressure sensative twill that I'd really like to use. I can figure out how to cut it out with the cutter and Cut Studio (the GX-24 cut program) but how do you create the sew discs to get the cut letters into the software.

With the holidays coming up and the 10th anniversary of my website INTERCOT.com, I'd really like to make some high end applique sweatshirts!

Anyone... anyone? Would love some instructions. Don't want to have to pay 500-800 bucks for a program to do this if Design Shop Pro Plus can.

Hi John, I am wondering what program you use to create your cut file,
I am thinking strictly form a screenprint and art point of view, but I would thik as I would do it. If I creat the lettering or Art as I would in CorelDraw, I could then export as a HPGL file or DXF to go to the cutter, but I could also send the copy of the file to design shop and digitize the zig zag tack downs and then your columns, I mean it wouldn't be push button, but you would have more control this way.

      Just a thought,

Ron Congrats on the anniversary coming up too!

I have the roland gx24 but I have not made a sewout with it yet. But it seems like to me you would digitize your applique then change and or save it as a vector. Then import it into a graphics program that can be used with the cut studio software I use corel x3.The gx 24 and the cutstudio seems to like AI version 8 I think. I would have to fire everything up to check. Then save object as a AI file and it will ask for which version.Open cut studio import your vector object and cut. Use your digitized piece in your design so the size will be correct and so forth. I have not been able to get the plugin for corel draw to work with the gx 24 yet. I am wanting to try this out as well just have not gotten around to it yet. If this idea seems wrong or to busy maybe someone with more exprience than me can chime in. Just my 2 cents
