Thread of choice??

I need some feedback from anyone willing to respond.
I am on the east coast and when ordering from Denver, I wait 5 days for shipments.
I am not always ordering in a timely manner, so the 5 day wait is not good for me.
I am lucky enough to have found a company for supplies (backing, needles, etc) that is only 60 miles from me, so I ge shipments the next day.
Here is my question...they do not carry Arc Poly thread and that is all I have used for the past two years.
They carry RA....can I get some feedback from anyone that is running RA threads on both the original Amaya and the XT?

LuAnn, switch to Madeira (local main office is an hour from me here in NH) for fast service-or find Isacord- Pat and Dick have switched to isacord on their 18 amayas so I may have to switch to match their colors for my orders I proof here.
Madeira usually ships same or next day-and it is only 2 days to NY areas.

I don't use MelcoMart for that reason, I usually can't wait 5 days for every order. when they were ARC many years ago, they had 4 locations, Denver, LA, Charlotte, and Chicago. I could choose Charlotte or Chicago, either one was 2 days UPS ground. They closed them all except Denver so no more MelcoMart for me unless I need hoops. I use several suppliers for backing, bobbins, and needles in Maryland which are one day UPS shipping. As far as RA thread, I hate it. Way too many thread breaks. I have used Isacord for about 10 years which runs with very little trouble. It does cost about $2 more for a 5000m cone but it's worth it to me to not have to stop when I'm running a 72 piece job that is due out the next day because of thread breaks.

It would be nice to see them open a shipping location on the east coast somewhere. I know they have lost a lot of business by making people wait 5 days for shipments from Denver.
Or at least offer free UPS 3 day select for orders over $100 which would ease the pain.

Hi LuAnn. I have an XT and some RA poly. It runs great and you can't beat the color selections in poly. For the money through, you can't beat SpectrumThread.com. Less color selections, comes out of the Dallas area, runs as good as RA (IMHO), and is only around half the price of RA. BUT, it's not a made in USA thread.

Look under the sale items. I wish they had a better site, but I like the thread and their prices on stabilizer are excellent.

Where on the east coast? I know several companies up and down the coast.

Most of my thread comes from Madeira. Comes pretty quick.

Also, you can checkout sewingmachine.com in Atlanta. they are in atlanta and carry a lot of different items including isacord. Dont know if the isacord is on their site yet but you can call them to order it. very nice people. close enough for me to drive.

oh, almost forgot, i've run poly, rayon, and metallic in my XT with no issues.

I like King Star. I order it from www.embstore.com, located in North Carolina, which I am too. If ordered by 5:00 PM, I can have it the next day.

I have bought RA Poly from Dashew on the east coast for years and they are cheaper than most other suppliers I've used and their backing is really great quality too!! I've never had trouble running RA thread and I think it has the best shine of any thread I've ever used. Debbie in Indiana

I use R/A, Madeira, and Issacord thread primarilly on my 6 amayas and 4 EMT's and Tajima. We have recently moved more to the Issacord side cause it runs the best and I can get the best price ($5.25 a spool no matter the quantity). I really like Madeira and it has the better sheen and runs great but its expensive and when you spend $4000.00 a year on thread price does matter but so does how it runs. We used to use R/A mostly and I like it but lately it seems some of the colors are not running as well as they used to and they raised their prices ($6.75 a spool unless I buy 12 of the same color and then its $5.75) I think the Madeira is around &7-8 a spool. So long story short, my vote is for Issacord with some fill in with R/A, Madeira and Arc cause you will always find you need a color that not every company makes so its good to have variety.

As far as Mettalic goes R/A or Issacord work great. Madiera is horrible and I have several cones from them I will never use, it breaks and breaks and breaks.

I had an Amaya Technician tell me Isacord was the best thread on the market. Melco used to handle it about 10 years ago.

I use Madeira primarily with some ARC Poly. Never had any serious issues, but never tried any other brands of thread either. I use a few different distributors depending on what else I need and who has what on sale. Doesn't make sense to me to rely on one distributor all the time. Shop around and get the best deal.

I get it directly from Ackerman. They have several shipping locations and
they pick the closest one to you. Mine ships out of CA. I was at their
booth at the Long Beach ISS show and told them I used R/A and told them what
my prices were and 2 days after the show they called me to see what they
could do for me. I explained where I was buying from and how much I paid
and she said she could do the Issacord for $5.25. Not sure if thats the
regular price or they made me a deal cause I but quite a bit of thread but
call and talk to them.
