  • Sewing on Afghans

    I am going to attempt my first afghan in a couple of days and I could use all the advice I can get.

    I won't be doing a corner design I will be adding the couples names under the words of Bride, Groom, Wedding date etc...

    Also, what kind of stabilizer would work best on these...

    Thanks;

    Tina,
    I have done many afghans from Pure Country myself and really hate doing them because they are so bulky. I iron a layer of fusible nylon mesh to the back and then add another layer of regular nylon mesh. You really need the fusible to keep the afghan from moving around. Then I also put a layer of water soluble plastic on top. I also raise my presser foot considerably and raise my thread feed 2-3 numbers. Good luck!! Debbie in Indiana
